Virgin Experience Days

Virgin Experience days can be bought online, or ordered over the phone. Virgin Experiences offered by virgin vary hugely, you can buy a gift of an acre of land on the moon costing from £25, or naming a star for someone costing from £79 all the way up through driving experiences, or flying experiences, which can cost from £50 upwards, to something completely different like a big cat encounter where you get to join a keeper and feed the cats, to a spy game experience costing in excess of £200 where you get trained in spy techniques including driving skills, weapons training and test your nerve with a bomb de-activation challenge.

The Virgin Experience site is laid out very tidily so that different types of experience are grouped together, flying in one place, driving in another, pampering in a third etc. You can look through each of these sections, or you can put in your price range and look at what options are available that way.

Unlike some ‘experience’ sites, virgin don’t limit themselves to the more common experiences you find these days of driving different sorts of car on a race track, pampering and spa experiences, and flying experiences; they also cover all sorts of other things from rafting, ice climbing and wakeboarding, to murder mystery on the orient express (one of their more expensive experiences at over £500), and a pole dancing experience where you learn to pole dance (costing around £35 per person). The site lets you search also by the sort of person you’re wanting to buy for. Him, Her, Child, Couple etc.

When you buy a virgin experience, you get sent a presentation gift voucher which you then give to the person, and that allows them to choose a time to suit them within 6 months from the date of purchase. If you choose regular first class, then you do not pay a p&p cost, but you can opt for special delivery which incurs a charge according to how many experiences you are buying. Alternatively you can have the experience gift voucher sent direct to the person you are buying it for. One minor problem I have with the site, is that no where can I find information telling me what types of payment are available, my guess is that they will accept all the normal payment cards, but I don’t think you learn that until you’ve registered and are trying to pay for something sadly. There is a customer helpline which you can call, which is an 0845 number so lo-call cost, so they might be able to tell you what payment methods are accepted also.

There are some restrictions on certain of the virgin experiences, so you need to check carefully to make sure that the person you are buying for will be able to use the experience you’re getting them. Most of these are height and weight restriction, but there are a few age related ones, and one or two where it tells you that people with certain medical conditions won’t be able to participate, so very definitely worth checking those too.
