Robert Dyas Online

Robert Dyas is a home and garden specialist online.  They divide their store into departments such as electrical appliances, home entertainment, bathroom, kitchen, home office, DIY, garden and pest control. You can browse by department (as above), or you can browse by room, or by brand.  You can also search directly for items so if you know what you want you should be able to go directly to it.  They also have a clearance section which is worth sneaking a peek at as it seems to have some good bargains there!

A few good features on site are:  The Wishlist – a great place to put things you’d quite like while you have a think about them and decide if you really are going to buy them (very useful if you want to give someone gift ideas too!).  Registering – When you register with the site they automatically enter you into any competitions they run, and you have the option to be informed by e-mail of special offers as they come up.  Online Order Tracking – when you log in, you can easily see the status of any orders you have outstanding, and check when things will likely be with you etc.

Payment can be made by Visa, MasterCard, Delta, Maestro, Visa Electron, Solo and American Express.  Delivery comes as either standard costing £4.95 and taking aprox 5 working days, or special/next day which costs £15 and as long as you’ve ordered before 10am the item will be with you the next day.  (These are the charges for mainland England only, other areas the costs and lead times differ).  Certain items are only available on the higher cost delivery because of their bulk, but this is clearly marked by those items so you don’t get a shock.  You only pay one delivery fee as well, it’s not per item, so if you order 3 things and one is special delivery only, then all would be delivered together, and you’d only pay the special delivery fee once for all of them.

Overall a good tidy site.  Prices seem about average to me, some good some not so good, but you do have the advantage of course that as they cover quite a wide range of products you can order a lot from one place meaning you only have to pay one delivery fee.
